Eye Q Tips Do you Experience…..? Under Eye Bags and Puffiness: Puffy eyes are caused when fluid gets trapped under the eye, and is usually most severe when you wake up. Cut down on the caffeine, alcohol and salt, especially the night before an event. These promote water retention that can settle in your face as you sleep causing puffy eyes. Drinking too many fluids before bedtime can cause puffiness. Try to stop drinking around 8pm . Sleep on your back; this will help prevent your eyes from getting puffy. Elevate your head with two pillows, or add Vasseur Skincare’s “Beauty Pillow”, so fluids will be less likely to settle in your face and give you tired eyes. Get plenty of Sleep. Lack of sleep is a major cause of both dark circles and under-eye bags. If you work to maintain a regular sleep schedule your body won’t be thrown in to overdrive with irregular hours. General Tips: Exercise, reduce stress, take a multi-vitamin and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. You will probably notice other benefits too, like reduces blood pressure and lower body fat. Dark Circles: Dark circles can be a hereditary condition – deeply pigmented skin, or can be caused by aging. As we get older the skin under our eyes can become thinner which causes the veins under the eye to become more prominent. Dark circles can be exacerbated by the lack of sleep, over exposure to the sun, bad habits and menopause. If the problem is due to bad habits or aging: Use a Day Cream with SPF every day to prevent pigmentation and look for eye treatments that contain some sort of optical diffusers. Early research indicated that products containing vitamin K, which the body uses in clotting blood might be beneficial in reducing superficial dark circles. Chamomile extract also works to soothe irritated skin, which can aggravate the appearance of dark circles. Crow’s Feet, Fine Lines or Wrinkles: Crow’s feet are fine lines and wrinkles appearing near the corner and under the eye area. There are two reasons that wrinkling seems to occur in these areas earlier than the rest of the face.
We can work to prevent and treat environmental aging (caused by factors such as sun exposure and smoking). There have been some amazing advances in treating fine lines and wrinkles. There are many products that contain antioxidants like, Idebenone, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Dmae, vitamins A, C and E. Idebenone, which protects the skin from breaking down, and smoothes fine lines and wrinkles, is especially promising. Most anti-aging regimens will contain some form of antioxidants, which help to increase collagen production, strengthening the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines, and making wrinkles less noticeable. Dry skin under your eyes: Moisturizing eye creams can help to make skin look suppler and minimize the appearance of fine lines. Dry skin tends to highlight wrinkles and fine lines so moisturizing treatments are more of a cosmetic than a treatment. Itchy tired looking eyes: Be sure not to rub your eyes if they are itchy, gently pat or press the area. Use an eye gel like Eye Q Gel that is cool to calm your skin. If they are very itchy you can apply an anti itch cream like Benedryl or cortisone cream, be sure to check with your doctor before your apply any anti-itch cream. If allergies are the culprit, consult your physician who often can recommend medication. Chamomile has proven to be an anti-irritant and have some healing properties. It is also considered anti-itching, extremely soothing to the skin and has the ability to neutralize skin irritants. Quick-fix solutions Cool Compress: Here some simple remedies you can do with items you might already have around the house. For a cool compress to reduce puffiness underneath your eyes you can use tea bags, raw potato slices or the good old stand by, cucumber slices. Another really quick fix is to place two spoons in the freezer for 10–15 minutes, take them from the freezer and place them over your eyes while you relax. These are quick short-term solutions, but for the long term a gel stick like Eye Q Gel which contains 70% water, firms the skin as it evaporates and provides an instant cooling effect to the skin as it refreshes the eye area and works to reduce puffiness. State of the art ingredients like Alpha Lipoic Acid and Chamomile can help with reducing under eye bags and puffiness. New under-eye gels like Eye Q Gel have proven effective by temporarily constricting blood vessels to prevent the build up of fluids. The Eye Q Gel stick contains 70 percent water, firming the skin as it evaporates and provides an instant cooling effect, refreshing the eye area and reducing puffiness. Eye Q Gel is a light, oil-free gel moisturizer that hydrates the skin around the eyes.
